BEARING STRAIGHT, Lambda print, 2500 x 60 cm, 2018

Emulating the footsteps of pioneers, explorers and mythic artists, Bearing Straight illustrates a walk between two island territories separated by conflicting ideologies and the International Date Line. Using the techniques, language and symbols of cartography, meteorology, darkroom printing and digital editing, Hunt questions ideas of territory, identity, the virtual and the 'real'; and deconstructs their meanings through wordplay and metaphor and the displacement, reversal and inversion of the formal indicators that assist our interpretation and facilitate our understanding of such concepts.
